SOCIAL SKILLS AND HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS

Students are expected to be prompt and prepared for all classes; respect authority, property and the rights of others; and to display a concern for learning and show appropriate social skills. If expectations are not met students may be assigned 40 minutes after school detention and/or required to fill out a Student Behavior Plan, in which parents will be notified. The average sixth grader should have 0-30 minutes of homework per night. Work time is given during each class. Teachers need advance notice for any make-up work to be picked up due to illness or family vacations. Two days are given for each missed day to complete make-up work.

Our Promotion/Retention Policy in Sixth Grade requires that all work be completed at sixth grade standards before entrance into junior high. If work isn’t completed by the end of the year, students will be assigned summer school.

Some strategies covered are guess and test, logic, making a table, simulations, and working backwards.
