Reading and Language Arts

Chapter I and Special Education Special Services
A continuum of services, are available for Pine City's special needs learners. Interventions that might be made include an increased amount of instructional time, changes in methods and/or materials, modified expectations, etc. Special education is offered according to the guidelines of the St. Croix River Education District. Pine City Elementary also has a school psychologist and a school nurse.

Parental Involvement


• Read out loud to your child and let him/her read to you.
• Let your child know that education is important by asking how his/her day was, going over papers, encouraging discussion, etc.
• Read and sign daily communication from classroom.
• Emphasize good attendance and punctuality.
• Praise your child for good effort and skills learned.
• Review math flash cards on a regular basis.
• Provide a consistent place for homework and materials.
• Attend your child’s fall conference.
• Feel free to call or schedule a conference if you have any concerns.

Classroom Discipline Policy


To encourage positive behavior, students are expected to follow these guidelines:

1. Follow directions first time given
2. Bring needed materials to class
3. Raise hand and be called on before speaking
4. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself
5. Remain seated during instruction and always walk in classroom
