Beginning with the 1997-98
school year our district has received some of our state funds based on
eligibility of our students for
the school breakfast and lunch program – irrespective of whether any
student participates in the school meals program. Therefore, in order for us to receive these funds I am
asking all district households who meet the income eligibility criteria, as
shown in the table below, to complete the attached application for Free or
Reduced Price School Meals and return it to school. (Please disregard this memo
if your household has already sent in the application or a free schools meal
notice.)
CAN I HELP? YOU CAN if any of these apply to your
household:
Your household currently
receives benefits through one of these programs: Minnesota Family Investment Plan, Food Stamps, or Food
Distribution Program or Indian Reservations. or
You are the legal guardian
for one or more foster children. or
Your total household income
is within the following guidelines:
Please complete the Application for Educational
Benefits if your total annual income is no more than:
For a Household of This Size:
1
$20,147
2
$27,214
3
$34,281
4
$41,348
5
$48,415
6
$55,482
7
$62,549
8
$69,616
If your household qualifies,
please request and return the ÒApplication for Educational BenefitsÓ right
away. An application can be received by calling Food Service Director Darlene
Smetana at 629-4167. If your application is approved, the information you
provide will help our school to qualify for additional funding or discounts for
educational programs, and you will be notified of approval for free or
reduced-price school meals for your children.
Again, I must emphasize
how important it is that we receive this data on free or reduced price school
meal eligibility in order that we may receive all of the State funds to which
we are entitled.
We will notify you of your
eligibility for the free or reduced price school meals.
Thank you for your help!
Respectfully,
Dennis Fischer
